5G Innovation Region Series - Glasgow City: 27th May 2025, 2pm - 3pm.
We’re excited to announce that the next webinar in our 5G innovation Region Series with CENSIS will spotlight Glasgow City Region and their Smart and Connected Social Places Programme!
The Smart and Connected Social Places Programme, led by Glasgow City Region and funded through the UK Government’s 5G Innovation Regions initiative, is delivering advanced wireless innovation focused on tackling real-world challenges in social housing and health & social care. Building on successful delivery in 2024/25, Phase 2 extends the programme to generate stronger evidence, more robust business cases, and greater regional impact.
Phase 2 focuses on two core workstreams:
- Smart Social Assets (SSA): Deploying IoT-enabled solutions in social housing to improve property health, energy efficiency, and tenant wellbeing. Use cases include damp/mould monitoring, fuel poverty interventions, smart metering, and asset-wide data dashboards.
- Connected Care & Wellbeing (CCW): Trialling smart devices such as speakers, wearables, and movement sensors to support safer, more independent living and remote care. The project explores integration with Alarm Receiving Centres and digital inclusion through free connectivity.
Both workstreams are underpinned by the development of Value Frameworks—replicable business case toolkits designed to support Local Authorities and partners in scaling and sustaining these solutions post-programme. The 2025/26 extension allows for expanded trials, stronger data quality, and greater senior leadership engagement across the region.
Join our webinar on Tuesday 27th May, 2- 3pm to find out how the programme continues to drive digital transformation across the eight Glasgow City Region councils and their Health & Social Care Partnerships, supporting long-term goals around net zero, inclusion, and local innovation ecosystems.
